Exhaust temp sensor

Hi guys,

Recently my exhaust temperature sensor fell out (due to me not tightening it properly I think). Not sure if the Australian delivered NA6s had this, but it's a little temp probe that sits just downstream of the cat.

All I can see that it does is illuminate the warning light on the dash - does anyone know whether it talks to the ECU at all? If that's all it does, then I'll just blank off the hole and remove the sensor.

I'd connect it back up properly, but it broke the bracket when it was bouncing off the road for 100m or so.

Cheers!

The cat convertor must be at a certain tempature (or above) to work effectivly. The sensor is there to confirm that the convertor is at the correct temp. Not sure if this will cause you any problems or not.

Hmm, so if it thinks it's too cold, the ecu might run things a bit rich to get temps up?

If that's the case then I might have to make up a proper bracket.

Cheers.

Have a look on the big forum I'm sure I have further information there.
