Hey guys..

I would just like to know if anyone in the forum has had any experience with the Begi cast turbo manifolds?

I have been looking around at different manifolds in the past couple weeks, and the begi one looks very similar to the manifold avo has on offer.

If anyone has some information on the quality, and performance, it would really help me out..

Cheers

Cant help you out with the begi one but thats nothing like avo
avo looks alot more factory style , not backyard cast.
also you would need an addapter plate to mount different turbo's due to the odd dirrection that the flange points.

most will turn close to 90deg either up or down
you can over come this by 'clocking the turbo' but you will be limited to turbo's that you can use
ie- if your looking at second hand turbo's they are all different so you would specificly need one that is pointing in the right direction from the get go.

nothings impossible though would just been a bit of fab work to make the new mounting point for the wastegate actuator arm etc and associated oil/water lines

Regards,
Ryno.

hehe, looks like ryan has seen the light after our little chat last night :mrgreen:

mate, i have no direct experience with the begi stuff but i will pass on something i read on the miataturbo forum from a guy who switched from an avo mani to a begi one.

he felt the begi did not spool as well, and prefered the drivability of the avo mani. altho apparently more top end power is possible with the begi.. both of these factors are coz of the differences in the way the 2 manis flow.

the thing about the begi is that the new mani had to be designed to be backwards compatible with their old kits. stephanie from begi even admitted that if backwards compatibility was not an issue, they would have designed it differently.

i'm sure it is a good peice of kit tho. as i said to you last night, i think the mani is probably the best startig point, and build your setup around it (that is, if a total \"kit\" solution is not of interest to you).

Ben wooped my a$$ so hard last night with some acceleration trials.
Staggering difference.
*sigh*
I have to remind myself I need a new iMac and NOT forced induction.

FFG,
iMac, you mean Fisher Price My First Computer :lol:

I feel left out, you wouldn't line me up that night on the way back from the Tourist rd run.

Everyone knows FI is the only way to go.

Ryan,
It was good chatting to you :D

Hmmm Boost

The Discussion over the Begi v AVO.

http://www.miataturbo.net/showthread.ph ... t=begi+avo

The differences would be minimal.

IMO get the Begi only if is considerably cheaper than the AVO.

Local support rules ok! (flashback to the 80s) :mrgreen:

Word of warning about BEGi:

* Build quality control issues
* Poor customer service

Myself and others have had numerous issues with BEGi...............
