EOI: B6 Hicomp Pistons

Postby adamjp » Thu Oct 11, 2007 7:19 pm

All,

Given the exchange rate is very favourable at the moment, I am looking at buying some hi compression pistons for my B6.

We all know that the Wisecos come in at 11:1, but they are $590USD plus postage and require the block to be bored out 2mm (.080). This overbore increases swept volume, but is also on the edge of available overbore. I have asked Mania and their price has not dropped too much due to the increased shipping costs at the moment through the preferred carrier.

I have been able to get a price from Belfab racing http://www.belfabracing.com/ for 1600 pistons in our choice of compression ratio (provided all are the same) for around $450USD shipped to Australia per set.

The catch is that I need to order a minimum of 3 sets. They get them produced in sets of 5, and they are willing to keep 2 sets on the shelf for potential customers.

Is anyone interested? Please email or PM me with your interest, and preferred CR. I am thinking along the lines of 11.2 or 11.5 (I know right on the ragged edge :D ) with the pistons themselves being a .020 oversize.

Why such a high CR?

Why such a high CR?

Why not?

But seriously, I have just been in the garage measuring things up and 11:1 may be better to allow for variances in deck height and head surfacing.

Since I have no interest in forced induction, very hi compression pistons are what I need to push the power to the best available. And yes, I know I can get better power per $ from a turbo! Turbo is just not my thing.
