Postby mossy » Tue Oct 09, 2007 6:17 pm

Can a/c be hooked up with an Avo kit on a 1.6?

before i bought the old avo kit, i visited avo and asked them if the current kit fits with the aircon. they said yes.

even the old one i got from you will work, i just need to put a clip on it , or something, to hold one of the pipes slightly higher as it fouls on the belt that drives the aircon compressor. i just haven;t got around to doing it yet. it only needs to move up about 2 or 3 cm, easy to do.

I beg to differ alittle

On mine I had to modify the water outlet pipe ie shorten it along the block as it fouled the turbo front housing

thus in turn then fouled the back of the air con compressor
(which i didn't know) until i put the air con back on 6 months later

I probably could have rerouted the water pipe underneath the aircon but at the time I didn't know/take into consideration the air con comp. mounting

I modified the water outlet pipe when i put the new kit on so it clears the housing now, the reason for the a/c question is a potential buyer wants a/c on the car so I'll let them know, thanks.

Interesting, I didn't have a modified water outlet, just the stock one (runs close to the turbo). Perhaps that's why it can be done on mine?

yeah i'd heard of people having problems with that water pipe but i had no dramas. everything fit just fine. i guess mazda must have used slightly different pipes on some cars, for whatever reason :?

there is two different water pipes one effects everything the other doesn't

my guess is AVO made it to suit the one that fits everything
and then realised that there is some that don't fit

i think up to mid 90 had the long pipe after that it was shortned
but I cant confirm that
