This is my MX5 (2000)



1 Can anyone tell me the (Australian) part number of the magnicor ignition leads for my MX5?

2 Or is there a possible group buy of ignition leads from Queensland ignition leads???

3 Roughly how much is a good set of 8mm thick ignition leads??

BTW Do I have a typical OEM clutch reservior? (It seems a bit small) Are there bigger ones that are more durable?

The Magnacor leads for the NB8B are shithouse (just ask Garry, Bevan and of course me!), just get the normal factory ones and be done with it.

Different story on the NA ones though.

Mine on the NA were great, the NB8B ones never fitted properly and caused all sorts of ignition problems.

Genuine NB8B ones fitted perfectly and were cheaper at mates rates too!

NB8B ones rock now. They've changed the whole design of them. My old ones sucked, but they were replaced for free through the Magnecor 10 year warranty. They're only $75 for the 2001 model too. Bought them through Mania.

I just bought it (black), its a bit cheaper than OEM but its 8MM.
I hope it doesnt have the same issue as Magnecor.

The new Magnacor Leads for the NB8B are as good as the ones for the NA.
After I had problems with the set I purchased through Mania I approached Thundercords who sourced new boots for each end and replaced them. The new sparkplug boot looks to be the same as used on the NA leads.
Mine have been installed for almost 12 months with no problems.
Give the sparkplug end a slight twist as you push it down and they click into place perfectly.

I always ran stock ones on my turbo 1.6. Never had a problem. Still have a brand new set sitting somewhere in the shed cause I never needed to swap them over.

I've been to these guys in Nunawading a couple of times for other cars. They make up leads on the spot using your original boots, etc if they're worth it and Magnecor or other good quality stuff - according to your needs. They've been very good and cheaper than buying full replacements.

BTW It's a good quality, race-focussed operation.
