Can you please help diagnose a problem?

Postby Ajay » Thu Aug 30, 2007 8:14 pm

hey guys..

im not very mechanically minded.. so i thought i would once again call on the help of the forumites..

what happens is the following..

when in 1st gear and taking off the car starts moving and sort of sputters and bunny hops a bit and then takes off.. and then when in 4th or 5th gear and i accelerate.. the needle will sory of rev out but not pull the car then it kicks into gear (like an auto and starts going)

anyone know what this could be.. leads and plugs are brand new

hopefully its not something big..

thanks in advance for your help..

Cheers

Check the leads are seated properly. Remove and refit perhaps? :)

Mine did that before I changed the plugs and leads.

Every now and then I have a bit of mild clutch shudder due to a small rear main seal leak but that is fixed with an enthusiastic launch including a tiny bit of clutch slip.

Definitely. I did that to mine a few months back and she ran like a dream again.

yep i think that was it!.. i let it warm up and took it for a run.. seemed fine.. the real test will be on the M5 tomorrow morning in that traffic.. will definately give first gear a work out..

thanks HEAPS for your help.. will definately be getting a refund/exchange on those leads..

by the way Does anyone have a little sensor attached to the chrome oil breather pipe on the front of the cam cover?.. just curious on whether this is after market

Cheers

i had a lead hanging loose from there, on mine. not attached to anything. is this what you mean?

it's normal, apparently. i think it is for some sensor that the aus cars don;t have. or maybe cruise control, or something like that.

If it's an AUS delivered NA6 that lead is for the power steering pump that wasn't fitted to those cars.

Funny u say that AJ. Before turbo I had problems with my NA8, similar to that, with aftermarket leads on it. Put the OEM leads back on, and it ran fine
