The Tomeis are not much more than $700 for both cams :D

700 for the pair from who though? and that for NA cam shafts or NB cam shafts?

the NB's have solid lifters i hear and that makes installing cams (even on the NB8As) alot more expensive.

are tomei the way to go with a standard head and motor just with a CAI and full exhaust system? or can i go a little more wild?? :D

Ahh that's right you have an NB. I paid $750 for a pair ot Tomeis, but that was over the counter in Japan. For the NB it's a lot more expensive because you also need the lifter kit too....to be honest I am not sure if the modest power gain would be worth the expense IMHO. Different case for the NA of course.

what grinds are out there for the NB8A's? is it worth while getting the wildest grind i can fit in the standard head or is that not worth while if the rest of the head is remaining standard? i will be putting in an ecu of some sort

Hi mate, how far are you prepared to go?

IRTB?

basically i want to crack the big 1 0 0 rwkw.. but since i plan on going turbo later, on another motor i dont want to go all out on this one.. so cant say i can justify the IRTB's... cams i maybe able to reuse though

i have a short cold side CAI, 4-1 extractors, highflow cat 2.5\", into high flow rezonator and muffler 2.25\"

im basically looking at Cams and ECU then ill be done for awhile and start saving for the big things :?

so yeah the motor its self will be left standard internally other than the cam shafts. so what i want to know is will it be worth while getting some wild cams? or should i just stick to the tomei's and alike??

and if so where should i get them if i dont want to be ripped off

I'd reckon that you wouldn't want to go much bigger (if at all) than the Tomeis.

They apparently peak slightly higher than the stock redline (the power curve is still building when you hit the limiter) so getting cams that shift the powerband any higher would be a bit of a waste. If the BP engine could rev to 8000rpm stock then yes cams that peak between 7~8k would be awesome, but sadly the BP is not such a motor :)

And I reckon with a turbo you wouldn't want really really big cams anyway.

I am getting a price for you for everything needed.

I am also pricing the TODA cams as well as TODA cam gears which would be a worthwhile investment (as long as the tuner knows how to use them!) to dial in the cams for where you want the torque produced.

They aren't very expensive.

thanks mate.

the cam gear really needed while NA? from my understanding the tomei's are basically set at factory anyway? i was under the impression that the adjustable cam gears were really only needed for FI setups? anyone able to clear this up?

thanks again

The instructions for my Tomeis said that ideal timing was 110/110, which is what you get if you just re-use the stock cam gears. I got a 8rwkw gain from my Tomeis, although I am surprised by that since it doesn't feel that dramatic...

Have you looked at the Toda Racing ones?

I think they're the only people to make adjustable cam gears for the NB8A (if required).
