NC clutch pedal adjustment

Can anyone help me with the clutch. It engages about 1/2 to 3/4 inch off the floor. Another NC owner in the Vic club ried it and said its engaging too low. Asked the dealer to check and adjust it and they said first, it can't be adjusted, then when I said it could, that they wouldnt do it because that's how mazda meant it to be.
Does anyone have the NC manual, and if so, can you post the diagram of where and how the clutch pedal should be adjusted? Im pretty sure mine is releasing too close to the floor but I need to check the diagram before I can get the dealer to take any action.
Big Al, if you reckon the clutch is adjustable (my local dealer doesn't) you can book me in. Yeah, I know its a long way to Preston from Burwood...

Sounds like a clutch pedal free play adjustment issue. I'd be surprised if it is not adjustable. I don't know the figures though for the NC.

The length of the rod that attaches the slave cylinder to the clutch pedal can be adjusted. Stick your head under the dash and have a look. But like JBT said, it should be set up right at the factory. If you dont have a lot of free play when the pedal is at the top of it's stroke then it doesn't need adjusting. The NC I drove clutch takeup point was very close to the floor. It might be an idea to bleed the clutch first. It wont hurt but could help.

Excellent find Russs. Clutch adjustment PDF.

I had a similar problem with our Astina - clutch engaging with the pedal near the floor. The dealer even pulled the gearbox because they reckoned we'd wrecked the clutch. Then they discovered the clutch and pressure plate were as good as new.

They then tried unsuccessfully to correctly set the freeplay. I did it myself using downloaded info. It's great now.

Edit: Just checked mine. 10mm free play at the pedal and it engages about half way up - feels good
