Everybody has seen it except me..
There was a pre-existing problem with my engine (unrelated to the kit) of which none of us were aware. Meaning that when it was started after sitting around for an extended period it went immediately onto three cylinders (with a possible ring failure or more). The engine had good compression when Daniel tested it 3 months ago and its done bugger all km's since then, there was no reason to suspect a problem. I'll note that Daniel has seen this sort of behaviour from an NB8A before after an extended period of no activity.
Basically we are looking at a rebuild so it'll be a few more weeks before its right to go. At least I will get to fit some stronger pistons.
The kit has not been a simple bolt in because a pre-98 Mx5 in Aust does not have ABS. A such the proportioning valve was in the way of the throttle body, meaning it had to be moved. Perhaps when FFS see the pics they may come up with a solution for this.
Secondly Daniel wasn't overly happy with the AFM simply hanging behind the blower so we decided piping to the cai was a better idea. This has obviously involved some work. This would not necessarily be mandatory for every car (Tom has run his with the AFM just behind for 9 months now without issue).
I wanted a remote oil filter setup on it for the obvious ease of oil changes. Again this added some work but not mandatory.
To blame the present state of affairs on the kit is unfair. If it had a turbo or anything else fitted the engine still would have s@#$ itself

. Why don't we all just reserve our judgement until it has hit the road and the dyno as I am..
I wish you well on the Rotrex kit 16 bit. A couple of guys on the US forum have fitted one with good results (if you have a look for Rotrex in the search you will find them). They say the throttle response is somewhere between a turbo and a MP62 coldside. The only prob with these is that its still more or less a belt dríven turbo. Characteristically they don't make as much boost at low RPM therefore aren't as torquey off idle / lower rpms as an eaton (or a turbo), though the Rotrax is said to be better than say the VF engineering kit available a few years ago. They are also very quiet which depending on your point of view may be a good thing - Personally that isn't really my bag

. I'm sure it will be good though . A home grown kit certainly sounds like a good idea.
Cheers
