Head Mods

Hey Gurus,

I was thinking of getting another head for a bit of mod work, such as Mark's one:

(Pity the valves and lifters don't seem to be identified though.) And doing a bit of work on it in my spare time. One thing though, can the NA6 stand a bit of a compression ratio lift or will it just ping away on standard ULP?

Any thoughts or comments?

The B6 can stand a bit of a compression lift on 91ULP. Stock is around 9.4:1. I say 'around' as the deck height on B6 engines varies quite a bit.

I run just under 10.5:1 and whilst I mostly run 98ULP for safety, I know it will work fine on 91. A little incident with running out of fuel and only being able to get normal ULP convinced me of this. At least I didn't try to blame it on a short nose failure

If you are looking for a spare head, I have two I am willing to sell. One is stock as a rock, the other is already ported and polised. Email me and I can send photos.

I can also arrange delivery to the Melbourne area relatively easily for very competitive prices.

Yeah thanks Adam email sent,

the other thing I was thinking was the turbo route. At $1200 for a basic kit from N*P (now advertising 'above') this is a seriously affordable mod. I guess it doesn't matter what octane rating you're running if your force feeding???? What I am looking for is trying to improve the overall efficiency rather that performance (not that I'd ignore it, on occasion - of course), and thus economy.
