After loving Geoff's engine build thread I was pondering what else I could do to my new engine while it's sitting around waiting to be installed.

Rather than painting my water pump pulley I decided i'd try polishing it.

Perhaps I might drill a dozen holes carefully and evenly around to lighten it a bit. The difference wouldn't be worth the effort but I might do it for some practice.

You're just as bad as Uncle Arthur... Actually, maybe not, he tried to polish the oil return fitting from the turbo...

Looks schmick though!

Waaaaaaaaay too much time on your hands!!!! Impressive effort though I'm glad I'm not trying to keep it looking that way once it's actually a running engine  8)

I'd much rather be driving it.

Bring it up to Cairns with the high humidity and the sea-air and watch it oxidise overnight !

on the front of my car there are two belts. one goes left and drives the alternator. one goes right and drives the aircon. where is the water pump, and it's belt ?

Above the crank pulley / harmonic balancer.
