Ok so it aint and MX5 but its intercooled!

Just thought I would throw up some pics of the setup on 'the other car'
First steps were to get two 300zx coolers and make one good one out of two!
next steps were as followed
dummy up where i roughly wanted the cooler to fit and just make up all the pipe work
and this is the bracket that now holds the throtle cable
the inter cooler tanks have a few mounting point on the now what is the under side that you could fit other stuff to if wanted
The intercooler isn't very heavy at all, hence not mounted to the body at all and doesn't move other than with the engine
Of particular note is the intercooler i \"adjusted\" would be absolutly perfect for an MX-5 with two inch outlets on either side!
Putting a GU bonnet scoop on this coming weekend to get full benifit from the intercooler

Fatty,
Its a Hilux Surf
Oil isn't that hard to fill I now have a tube that i pour the oil into
most intercooler setups on the surfs require removal of the intercooler to check/fill the oil
That would be one of my pet hates if I had of done it that way
So I see this as a comprimise!

Mate - you're a goddam legend!!!!!
That cooler is roughly the same size as what i have, so it's MX5 perfect......
And everyone else - after what LM did to the intake and pipework on my car I certainly couldn't be happier.......
I did the run around the block yesterday arvo - no exhaust - just dump pipe - staying off boost, just to make sure everything is all good for the next stage - a LM custom SS exhaust.....

Can't you rotate the compressor housing by 90 degrees (ie, up) and lose about 2 feet of tubing?

You might find that the position of the bolts on the compressor housing dictates where the wastegate actuator sits.....

correctimundo!
lots of fittings on the other side and I ain't going to disturb something as crucial as the turbo just to save a bit of pipework
as they say if it aint broke don't touch it and with these imports its even more so!

Looks great!
With the wastegate actuator - a bracket only takes 10min to make and solves that problem right away. Clocking's safe if you do it right.
Was there any reason you didn't go front-mount?

No room! at all! two batteries in either side of the front just to much crap
Front mounting intercoolers on 4x4's is not a comon practice albeit unless they are the show pony ones!
this is purely a workhorse!
got the airbags in the back for load leveling now
and a big storage deck
4 inches of lift
cause i wanted the monster truck feeling!
want to get off road more than what I do!
in 4-5 months just have been to busy!
