Stretched bellhousing bolts

I can't believe hom many problems I've run into putting this gearbox in, I definetly wasn't a mechanic in another life!! The latest drama is I was finishing off the gearbox install and tightening up the bellhousing bolts but they wouldn't go past a certain point, they just slowly spinning, so I removed the 5 that were giving me problems and a few of them were definetly stretched the couple were probably on the way. Has anyone had problems with this and do you think I've stuffed the inner threads

Stretched or stripped

This doesn't sound good.

Did you say you stretch five of those bolts and possibly a couple more?
Those bolts aren't that tough. Your inner threads should be ok. I stretched one when I did my clutch job last time, despite the correct torque setting on my wrench. It became slightly thinner in the middle and longer. It's the bottom right bolt looking from the front of the car. Since it's only a single bolt, I just put it back without any drama so far. As some of their lengths vary, I took the effort to install those bolts back to their original places.

Yep, I managed to stretch one a looong way. Was very happy that I stopped in time and retrieved it whole.

New bolts are in and tightened, all good and hopefully smooth sailing from here, I doubt it though.
