Thermo Fan Removal ?????

I am attempting fitting an Intercooler to a NA6 1990 with A/C.
If it is possible to remove one of the thermo fans at the back of the radiator ?? ...... and just one single fan ?????
It would make the job MUCH easier. ie. provide much need room for the intercooler pipes to be routed down to the Intercooler.
Thanks for your help.

common practice when installing a turbo on an na6 is to wire both fans in parralel to provide extra cooling to your radiator. remember, your cooling system will be working overtime once you install a turbo.
therefore i don't think it's a good idea to remove the second fan.

I second that. Installing the piping will be a PITA unfortunately, but once it's done, it's done.

And removing the fans is easier with the radiator removed anyway....
So go get yourself the factory (2 core) radiator off the automatic and save yourself some hassles.....

I have air cond as well. The pipe that runs from the turbo outlet to the intercooler is oval shapped. This means that it can run down the side of the fan and not interfer with the fan, the radiator and the air cond compressor. I will try and take some pictures of the setup. I have used a lot of Silicon(e) hose in mine to get all of the angles right.

you can get the pipe down there you just have to be creative
I did sabretooths piping with the two fans on the radiator although tight to get the pipe round it can be done
oval pipe can be down many ways!
ie it can be pressed (there are cheaper ways to press it than paying to have it pressed)
How are you doing the piping? with tube bends then welding it all together?

Ok, Here a couple of photos I took during the install process. I don't currently have a good close up shot of the oval pipe running down beside the fan, but hopefully these will give you the general idea. The main reason that I believe that the pipe needs to be oval is to clear the air cond compressor, as it clears the fan with a reasonable amount of room. Also note I have replaced the short piece of silicone hose in the photos with a hump hose to allow some movement in the setup.
