Slipping clutch - need help/advice
my clutch is slipping majorly. It only does it after about 45mins of driving or on very hot days (like lately in Sydney). What is the problem, can it be fixed, do i need a new clutch and what should I do?
If I need a new clutch i will be putting in a beefy heavy duty one (if that answers any future questions/posts).
thanks in advance

Have you checked your oil lately? Perhaps when the car warms up and the oil thins it can get through the rear main oil seal faster and get onto your clutch. Anyhow leaky rear main or not its only a matter of time before you need a new clutch all together so I would start saving/planning now. And while your there you might as well do the rear main too.

Not if you mean clutch slip as in the clutch allows you to engage gears but engine RPM changes without any immediate change in speed - a bit like an automatic car struggling to accelerate in Drive. Generally noticed when going up an incline in a slightly higher gear than you would like to be in.

nah, that's the poor old clutch trying to grab hold with what little it has left........you've got the maximum life out of it by the sounds............of course oil leaking from the rear main would cause the same effect, same prognosis tho...........new clutch assembly

Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

Hmmm, can't seem to recall my clutch doing that when it was nearly dead.
It might be worth having a check of your engine mounts as well, especially on an older car. The shaking they make sounds like what you have described. They are going to look like this if they are gone, big crack in the rubber bits.

Is a new clutch assembly costly to install?

my clutch was slipping once. but it was my fault. i had a freebie in class and we went to bass point (big gravel spot) and we were having fun doing donuts and crap. but by the end of the day, it was back to normal
