Turbo & ARC Intake

A few months ago i bought a second hand turbo kit off the forum but havent had a chance install it until now. Started yesterday with high hopes, but then got as far as removing the stock downpipe from the manifold and couldnt go any further. Got one nut loose but the others didnt want to shift. Soaked the whole area in penetrating oil, used rackets, spanners, extensions, mallets, various expletives, but no luck.

Then i changed my tactic and thought id remove the whole section up to the cat (manifold/downpipe/exhurst). Again i got one nut loose but the other didnt want to budge.

Got to the stage where i was starting to strip the nuts so ive given up. Might just drop the car off at Mania and let them do it professionally.

Anyhow, the plus side from my weekend is that ive removed the stock front intake pipe and filter and replaced them with the bits from box of goodies id bought.

Has anyone had a ARC intake pipe?? Are they any good?? Is the big bulge supposed to help throttle response?? It definately looks sexy!!

Hope the image below works, i havent tried to attach something before.

Arc is good for non turbo engines (except the NA ones get hot air off the radiator).

I've seen the ARC intake used instead of an intercooler on some turbo cars in Japan.

They just add turbo lag. :?

Thanks Okibi. I was wondering how compatable the ARC was with turbos. Although id imagine they would create less lag than a front mount IC. It will probably do the job on my low boost kit for a while before i fit the IC.
