I left my Mx with Maztech while I went on holidays to get Tighe 805c cams and a Microtech ecu fitted and tuned.

Spoke to Anthony lasy night and can't wait to get up there today to pick it up.

On Caulfield Jags dyno(club dyno days) it made 64 rwkw standard(( as did other NA8A's) then just on 74 with a high flow exhaust , headers and CAI;( which it did again on the before test at Maztech) , this is a couple more than a standard NB8B.

After cams and ECU at Maztech it is making 94rwk and has more torque and power everywhere than before except below 2000rpm.

I will post the dynos sheets next week and give a 'seat of pants\" impression.

Awesome :) Good to meet another member of the hot cams club :D

But mine's similar (a bit weaker than yours at 90rwkw tho), to the seat of the pants, basically it's stronger everywhere except below 2500rpm.

Wait til it gets on the same dyno as before before making comparisons...

But sounds good otherwise!

How much for the bumpsticks and ECU?

Matty,

It made 74 at Caulfield(Dyno Dynamics) and 74 at Maztech before the cams(again Dyno Dynamics) so I am guessing that the comparison figures are pretty accurate!!!! The tuner reckons that he gets very little variation Dyno Dynamics to Dyno Dynamics( as this case shows)

All up cost was around $2750 using new cams, fitting them suppling new cambelt, seals etc supplying The Microtech and tuning.

I wasn't looking for outright power just to get a bit more and to cure my lean running. I would have been happy with a 10kw gain.( and yes I know I could get more from a turbo but thats what I wanted)

It will be interesting to see how it drives, look out GOR tomorrow morning!

Babalouie,

You have probably explained this many times before but what cams/ ECU are you using?

Peter.

PC, Very good result mate 8)

I'll be heading down the same route some day :D

Sorry, missed the bit in brackets...
27% from cams and computer is very impressive!

I'd still wait until you had an impartial test run though...

I got the Tomei "Pon"cams, installed at the stock 110/110 timing:

The ecu is stock, with just a simple Apexi SAFC piggyback/interceptor.

My power gain from the cams alone wasn't quite that dramatic, 8rwkw. But if I look at my dyno chart from before I fitted and tuned the SAFC, it was 74rwkw, same as you, so yeah a 16rwkw gain from cams and ecu is pretty similar to your results, except you got a touch more of course :)

Can you put mild cams onto a stock ECU? I've now got CAI, X-force headers and highflow exhaust to make best use of them. A set may be available to me with 265deg duration and peak cam lift of .34892 inch.

Dunno about 265, but my 252/256s ran fine on the stock ecu. Got 87rwkw and perfectly driveable, stable idle, etc. In fact the bigger cams made the most of the over-rich stock fuelling and there was not as much of a gain from tuning as with stock cams.

I am currently running HKS 264deg cams on a stock NA6 ECU.

They work fine, and make more power than stock.

Dyno tested - no. Improvment measured using GTech.

The RX7 AFM goes back on in a few weeks, and the UniChip goes in after christmas.

Nice results

As Matty said, a comparo on teh same Dyno would be awesome, but seat of the pants should also give us a good indication.

I'm pretty impressed. I've only seen gains like that with added head work and half point minimum compression bump. Can't be unhappy with that - 94rwkw is the start of a good little race car!

Rick Shaw is much closer and has produced favourable results for a number of MX5 owners in the past and recently.
