Fuel economy getting worse (250km's to a tank?)

Postby maxwolfie » Sun Oct 08, 2006 4:01 pm

OK, when I first got the car, I was getting about 450km's to a tank. I have since put a full exhaust on the car and the AFM off the S5 RX-7. Fuel economy was still around 400-450km's to a tank.

Recently (the last month or so) it's been getting worse and worse, I always reset the tripmeter when I fill up (always 98 RON too) to keep tabs on how much fuel im using. I looked today and it was 1/2 tank, with only 117km's done.

Any ideas?

Also possibly an AFM problem (connection/sensing).

if maxwolfie didn't track his fuel economy he probably wouldn't know that there was something wrong with his car.

who said it was silly??......i reckon the average clued up driver has a reasonable idea what their car is doing per tank, i know i hit the tripmeter every time i fill up in all my vehicles, as for working out to the 3rd decimal point every time, i don't do that, i can't see the point really :)

Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

Yeh, i wouldnt really care either, 100kms isnt much, but when your talking almost double the fuel consumption, it starts adding up
