Me new BOV

Postby ASE05 » Sat Oct 07, 2006 6:26 pm

I reckon it looks good without being over the top. It's a Turbosmart Dualport Kompact. Put it in last night in less than 15 mins

I've gotta say though, the little trumpet that vents to the atmosphere won't be there after tomorrow morning. It sounds like a sneezing 2yr old asthmatic with a cold

\"'ava butchers at me BOV, it's the business\" ?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Nice to see you got it on, did you change the spring? If so have you noticed a bird like whistle with regular driving and lighter sneezing with aggressive driving? Appears your not running the extension hose supplied by turbosmart onto the nipple, are you having any leak issues?

Hopefully, your throttle responce has improved......

Emma Chissit ??

I had looked at these and thought you couldn't turn an atmospheric BOV into a non vented unit.

Where do you run the return from, how and where to ?

1. Nuh, haven't changed the spring yet, off to the place of purchase in the mornin' to sort that one!

2. Haven't really experienced any whistle but it does make a pfshhhhht sound at almost any revs above 2.5k but that's not too my liking and will change as soon as I get time to spend in the garage.

3. Haven't fixed my nipple yet  but I'm not experiencing any major idle issues. It does seem to struggle occasionaly with returning to idle from high revs but nothing major. I reckon the stiffer spring should be the fix for that 8)

Floda: the bov has a a return that hooks up to the standard stuff whislt also having a partial vent to atmo. It's there for wank factor an not much more. You can however stop the atmo venting with a cap they supply. No more pfshhhhht 8)

With the new spring there will no pfssshhht at 2.5k only a birdlike whistle, you only get a lighter sneeze if 5k and thats with aggressive driving.

Stiffer spring will fix idle issue, just noticed you have a non standard vacuum hose, perhaps you wont need to add the extra bit, what i found the longer the hose the more time it takes the bov to react.

My understanding is that the cap is for blocking off the return hose, it doesnt block the trumpet, if you block the return hose, the bov will come fully atmospheric being louder and your more then likely gonna have issues with backfiring, splutering on re-exeleration and poor idle as no air is returning back to the intake and hence not being read by the AFM. The dual port was specifically designed to avoid AFM issues that were related with full atmospheric BOVS as its semi plumback.

If you want no noise whats so ever, you will need the plumback model.

Are you sure? It looks like one peice, doesnt seem to budge clockwise or anticlockwise and not game to use a tool to have a go it.

The instructions say that the blank/cap is for supersonic full atmospheric BOV

I think once you put the new spring in your mind might change about the nature of the noise, it doesnt sound at all like wrx ricer!
