I'm hunting around for an aftermarket ecu and I found this on ebay:

Seems like a good price and it includes the harness. I do not have a reference so I do not know if this is a reasonable price for it. The Greddy ecu's seem to be a bit cheaper from other ecu's on the market. Is there a reason for that, ie do they have less features etc?

I also wanted to know if anyone has had this particular ecu installed and what experiences they had with it.

thats a pretty damn good price with whats included!
Only reason i would not buy it is that i already have the Emanage Blue, and if i were to upgreade i would go all out.

Benefits of the Ultimate are (off the top of my head):
On top of the normal fuel and timing controll you get; Closed loop fuel control, automatic tunning, you can ditch the AFM as it has in-built programming to fool the stock ECU.
Other benefits would be that you still have the stock ECU in place so if you do any sort of mods to the car it will pretty much run fine if you stay off the go pedal untill you tune the fule and timing in (but with the auto tune its even easier, not perfect but does save alot of tuning time at the dyno!!) this also allows the stock ECU to handle all its normal duties AC idle up blah blah and all you do is play with the fuel and timing parameters to get it running with your new mods.
The fact that it comes with a harness so you dont have to splice into you original one, but i'm prettysure you'll still have to splice into the supplied harness which is easy as pie.

The Ultimate is really made as a cheap alternative to a full stand alone with pretty much the same features.
The only thing a stand alone would have over this is extra outputs/inputs for something like fan controll or some such thing. Or if you mod your car so much as to go way outside the stock computers fueling parameters.
Not sure how much bigger injectors this thing can take, the EManage blue takes 150% over stock - not sure if that means stock plus 150% or 150% of stock? mine i running 330cc injectors overs the standards 205cc without too much trouble aside from a few tuning bugs due to my lack of effort to iron them out. (bouncy idle when warm or crappy to no idle whan cold which i am only playing around with the RX7 AFM to fix. These conditions are about 3 clicks of the spring in difference)

Basically from what i've read/heard is that this is a good piece of gear.

Read up on it in the US forums lots of guys there have it.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my query. I will certainly look into it. With so many choices out there, it can be hard to make a decision on which way to go.

I guess the other consideration is finding someone in my area who is comfortable tuning Greddy ECU's. I noticed that some tuners have a particular prefrence or specialise in certain brands.

I think you'll find that is a pretty big consideration. Having the best ECU in the world wont help you if it's not tuned properly.
