fitting an auxiliary fuel pump ? ?

anyone have any experience with this?

i'm investigating running a fifth injector on a turbo set-up. now, apparently the stock 1.6 fuel pump SHOULD be ok for mild boost applications. but just thinking if it's worth running the 5th injector off a seperate pump anyway, just to be safe. i could pick up a pump real cheap off ebay. it's just fitting it that will be the headache. as in, how the f**k do i plumb the thing into the tank?!?

alternatively, if you could re-assure me that the stock pump will be fine at about 8 psi, well that would be great too :D

My stock NA6 pump runs fine on a 1.8 with 130rwkw at 12psi. It can't have much room left though. If you get some second hand GTX or similar injectors they will do you fine on the stock pump without fitting an extra injector or pump IMO. The stock NA6 injectors are only 185cc's so they should run out well before the pump.

You can get a Walbro replacement pump that fits in the tank where the original one is....contact MX5mania about one...

I think the idea here is that one extra injector is much cheaper (not necessarily easier, but cheaper) than 4 new/used/different injectors. This setup would also mean at idle the 5th injector isn't doing anything and your car passes emissions testing.

Yeah, fair enough, I can see the advantages... But if it was me that's what I'd do - I'm all for easy! :D
