The SPs racing at the moment are nowhere near 250rwkw. One is around 140 and I think the other around 180. There is no reason why the SEs won't do that as well. We will know soon....the yanks have got 140rwkw simply with better inlet and turbo piping, intercooler and exhaust around the 8-10psi mark with a stock ECU. The SP Motorsports SE kit will do that easily based on what the guys with just the exhaust have already done.

Of course, making it once on a dyno and making it every lap for a season of motor racing reliably are two extremely different things. 8)

250ish was just a number i heard someone say the SP race cars such as brians would be good for, its just they are governed... the boost is wound down to 180 as thats the limit for the wieght in their class. so i hear

yeah not sure you'd see a car running that day in day out.. sean's 1.6 for example

I think the Flyin Miata \"FM Speed\" is claimed to have 280 HP, check their website for lots of reading on SE upgrades.

The dyno chart shows the power ceasing to increase around ~5600rpm. Did you tuner have any ideas why?

Impressive dyno, appears to pull from 3000rpm, as CT has stated any particular reason why it plateu at 5500rpm mark? Would you happen to have the A/F ratio for that power run, just wanted to know if its running rich or lean and when the fuel is being dumped.

The dyno is a 4th gear power run correct? So, if its was running dynodynamics shoot out mode, im assuming it would do around low 130s rwkw mark, which appears to be on parr with mx5mania estimate. When you say SP Kit, does that include the whole shabang? (upgraded intercooler, exhaust, remap and boost)

Thanks

THE REAL BORIS wrote:Bang for your buck.

10 psig on a stock SE gives 122 rwkw (YES on a stock inlet, just with a replacement metal throttle body elbow). I got mine from 107.8 rwkw to 116.5 rwkw when experimenting with just the pill (in the wastegate signal line) mod. when achieving 8.9 psig on the same dyno. as ASE05.

The addition of the first downpipe only from the turbo takes it (with a 10 psig mbc) to 133 rwkw. This is fine for the street since peak outputs are not required very often at all and the stock intercooler can cope with it all (especially in colder climates).

Effective boost (4 psig) can be achieved from 2200 rpm by changing the stock bypass valve for an adjustable GFB unit (dyno. verified also). With a tighter spring, it closes much earlier than the stock unit.

Note for reliabilty reference, 10 psig on an SE is roughly the same as 8.75 psig on an SP.

Im impressed and intrigued, care to elaborate a little more, do you have any dyno print outs from the dyno day?

I'm interested in what it could achieve if that flat spot could be removed!
