Exhaust - NA8

Postby Adam_NAclubman » Sun Aug 06, 2006 3:02 pm

I replaced my stock exhaust with a secondhand cat-back system from Emu's old race NA6, it's 2 1/4 inch thin-wall with one muffler in the stock position at the back.

I don't know if it really made a difference to power (I think it revs a bit free'er though) but my god is it noisy. I think the muffler might be pretty much dead. Plus its raspy as hell and pops all the time if I'm off throttle in second (so there may be a couple of leaks in it?)

I've decided that its so noisy that I just dont enjoy driving the car anymore (I can't give it throttle anywhere unless I want everyone within 5 blocks to know I've put my foot down), so I'm going to go and get the catback system modified. Probably a new muffler, but I'm not sure if I should get a resonator as well?

What works well on other people's cars? I don't mind loud (3 inch thinwall stainless HKS exhaust on the Skyline) but atm its rediculous, plus it sounds bad.

And I don't really want to have a whole new system made up, the piping and the bends are ok, and I know that I'll have to accept a bit of raspyness but what should I do with what I've got?

Stick a resonator up on the straight bit of the pipe.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

Plus several others in the bone yard...
