Is changing the accessory belt/s an easyish job? I've got a bit of belt-slipping noise so I figure its time to give it a go.. I did it on my DR30, it couldnt be much different to that could it?

Standard Clubman with no P/S or A/C? One belt, loosen alternator, remove, replace, tension.

Extremely easy. Easier than changing your oil.
Back off the tensioner lock bolt and back the long bolt out until the belt is slack enough to remove. Replace with the new belt and wind the long bolt back in. If you can twist the belt much past 90 degrees then it needs tightening up more. Once you have that bolt done up enough to have the belt tensioned, tighten up the tensioner locking belt.
If you have a 1.8L with power steering and AC, the belts you need are 4PK-940 and 4PK-880.

Ah well, that makes all the difference. It's possibly just the A/C belt slipping. Is it squealing? Try a bit of soap on the belt and check its tension, that may fix it.

Yeah it squeals. Do I let it idle and hold a bar of soap up to the underside if the belt? Or just rub the exposed bits of the belt while the engine is off?

Engine OFF, not running, stopped.

Good, I wasn't wanting to put my hand anywhere near a moving belt

Wow, honestly didnt think that soap would stop it slipping... but it has!
Tension felt fine so I didnt adjust it, just rubbed a bit of soap on there

It was quiet when I first ran the engine after doing it, but the squeal is back now, its like a bunch of small birds. Time for a new belt maybe?

Yes, new belt time. Soap/squirting on soapy water will only tell you if it's the belt or not - it's not a permanent fix.

Done and done
Alternator belt from mazda - $13
They didnt have the air con belt so I had to get that from Repco - $25
Air con belt that came off the car didnt seem to bad, but it looks like when that was replaced they couldnt get the alternator to move, as that belt was pretty shagged, and it took half an hour to get the bottom pivot bolt to move, felt like Hercules had done it up.
No squeaks and squeals now

Thanks for advice
