ECU Speed/RPM Wires - NA6?

Postby Roderic » Wed Jul 05, 2006 9:41 pm

To All,

Considering fitting a RevSpeed Meter into the NA6 MX5. (Jap Import)
I know that standard NA6's didnt have a speed wire as they ran via mechanical speedos. BUT......
In my case I will be changing engine to a 1.8L from an NA8, using my Wolf 3D V4 PnP along with upgrading to a 6 speed box.
Soooo where does this put me....be sides having a Hybrid Frankenstein Car......any ideas? ? ?Can I get a RSM to work?

Thanks
Rod.

If by rev speed meter you mean a tacho - they'd just work from the signal from the coils, wouldn't they? If so, I believe that that's a black wiire with a white stripe, though you'd want to check for certain whether this is the case. I assume that the Wolf would use this same wire for reading RPM.

I was thinking like one of the fancy turbo timers that can display Speed, RPM, ect ect.....

Isn't there a pulse generator at the rear of the speedo in the gauge cluster to drive the speed limiter on Jap cars and the Cruise Control on the US cars? My NA8A had one and it had a mechanical speedo drive.
