Most of the name brands (and many of the no-names) are quite similar and effective these days.

It varies depeing on your setup, but I've seen a few vary as far as 2psi (turbo smart, GFB etc). Genrally, the colder it is, the more boost produced.

Where are you taking the pressure reading for the boost control from?

Before or after the intercooler?

I would think this would be the only place that would cause the variation if you have a gauge at a different spot to where the return line to the boost controller/turbo is.

I take it the manual boost controller you are talking about is just a sprung valve? If so the spring pressure actually goes up when it heats up.
