brake pad and rotor change? when to do?

I've had my car for almost a year now. Since then i've done about 25000km and I haven't changed the pads or rotors yet.
When should they be done? One or two pads are getting awefully squeeeky.
I have DBA standard rotors and OEM brake pads.
Recommendations for a non racer but wannabe?
