Holy Crap!
That clamp must be screwed on pretty bloody tight for it not to pop off. I can't beleive how much it expands.
And that must be one of the hottest looking MX5's i've EVER seen

It's just a standard SE with aftermarket wheels?

Oh really Jules? Wow, never knew...
And shuddup snoop.
I've never seen a black SE. That thing is sexy. The immaculate shiny black duco, with the smokey headlights and SE body kit. The wheels are also a very nice choice.
The whole thing just looks hot. Just needs some clear or smoked reflectors and indicators.

Seen one in the flesh at Eurocars and it didn't look as good in the flesh as that pic...too much black!
Oh and it had those wheels on it to...think they are stock for the 2005 modles!

That must be why they used metal pipes in the SP.

Which have rusted.
These days some manufacturers are even using plastic intake manifolds.

Has anyone with an SE had a problem with this?
Should it be checked by Mazda or is it meant to be?

actually that was gunna be my question in answer to pinkies query.........exactly how far have they pushed the envelope on that mazdaspeed SE to get the intake pipe to balloon like that????...............screwed the boost up to buggery & run it hard just below the rev limiter on the dyno to get that effect i'd say

Well mine's going on the Dyno next week, so might get an opportunity to answer that question. Dunno if someone's allowed to take photos or even whether bonnet can be opened. My suspicion is that ain't standard boost.
Cheers,
Alf

Nothing that a lick of paint didn't fix and I'll never have to worry about them cracking with age and increased boost.
So even with a development budget much larger than the SP project there's still issues with the SE. And here I was thinking a \"proper\" factory turbo like the SE would have no problems compared to the \"backyard\" job they did on the SP. Interesting........

Indeed, but you'd expect that sort of thing from a low budget after market underdeveloped bolt on turbo kit lik the SP. I wouldn't be expecting cracked and swollen turbo pipes from a \"total package\" mega million dollar project developed with full backing from the manufacturer, even if it was developed by their go fast bits team in a tin shed out the back of the carpark.

PS And just for the record. Of all the things that have fallen off my car the turbo has never been one of them. All my turbo nuts have been and still are tight. I did however loose a manifold nut and a dump pipe nut came loose early on. No problems since they've all been retorqued to the correct settings though. It's a pity the clowns that assembled the SP couldn't tighten nuts and bolts.

I haven't heard of any of these pipes cracking, and my fifteen year old MX6 Turbo still had all the original rubber pipes in place, no cracking. Also, who knows what kind of boost that car was running when that throttle body boot had swollen up, I hardly think it was at a factory level.
