Dyno Run with 14 deg

Just did a dyno run on a Dyno dynamics dyno that was freshly calibrated.
78.9kwrw @168km/ph
98 octane fuel, 14 deg timing, heat shield air intake, loch stew cat back.
my afr was all over the place between 13 and 11.
what should it be at?
just would like to remind people that stock is about 57kwrw

Very good. You have a NA6 yer
Max power should be made with about 12.4-12.7 IIRC
What happened to no more post to stay at 1000 ?

Very nice improvement Astro
As a reality check, for when you eventually get used to the power, try driving a bog stock 5 for a day ..... you get that \"yeah !!!\" feeling all over again
Well done

with my latest dyno run....
the power dies off near the 6700 mark...
is this because of valve float...??
new valve springs and valves will keep me reving til 9000 rpm????

Nope cam timing or even HLAs not holding oil pressure (they should be fine till at least 7800rpm).
For 9000rpm, you might want to open the wallet significantly more. Valve springs and valves won't do it. You'll need all new engine internals, cams, lightened crank, solid under bucket shim lifters etc etc....another $8k at least form my experience.
*Amended due to not paying enough attention!

Don't think he has a blower cause he couldn't get it engineered in SA?

id say power is dropping because the afr's drop like a stone below 11:1 afr at the top end...leaning it out will get back that power...on my turbo a 1 point drop in afr from 12;1 to 11;1 lost me 7-10rwhp!!!!! ouch

yes thats right no blower for me because of the engineers cert.. just can't get it without forking out the big bucks...
Yeh i think its all dropping because it does drop down to below 11.
would leaning it out be safe for a non turbo? I'm sure with a turbo you'd want a little extra fuel to keep engine temps down.
but for a NA it would be fairly safe to lean it out to 12.7 all the way along the rev range...???

not a bad effort for a N A 1.6.
Yea mine was just under 65kw rock stock standard. when others wrere measured between 57 - 65 on the same day.
57kw is on the lower end of the scale though. but if thats where you started from. Thats a great improvement.
I think you must be in about the same leaqe as slammer now....probably a few Kw more.

We should go for a err... calibrated run to see how different your 78rwkw B6 is to my 69rwkw BP

just got my emanage and spare ecu today!
going to operate on them over the week and hopefully with my rx7 airflow meter get some decent gains.
hoping for another 10kw... hope!

Are you saying you got 78Kw without your e-manage?
for some reason i looked at your sig & saw the emanage & naturally assumed that was part of the 78rwkw.....
with the excaust CAI & timing bump.....I'm with Adam.....I'd be comparing too.

Obviously all dyno's are different but on the Caulfifield Jag Dyno Dynamics (Vic Club days)we have not seen more than 74 kw out of a non forced induction car in 3 years of testing, and that was from a NB8B with a bit of work.
Our best NA6A result is 65.1kw for Matty's car in 2003.
I know that the Caulfield dyno seems to read low compared to our one at the Gordon Institute of Tafe but 78kw is amazing from a 1.6!
I have had a problem running lean up top and am tomorrow putting on a Malpassi fuel pressure reg kit and will do a dyno run before and after.

57kw is very low - that sounds like it'd be a tired or incorrectly set up engine (retarded timing perhaps?).
Nice result. Though the important thing is that you go back to that same dyno for when you look for the gains/losses from other mods.
