Trouble starting

Hi everyone - My mazda has had difficulty starting for the last couple days. It will only start if I have it in gear with my foot on the clutch. The car runs perfect once its going. The engine seems turning over with enough power so I dont think the battery is the problem. Any ideas on what I should check?
cheers

As soon as you have the clutch in, it starts perfectly every time?

nah it still cranks longer than normal - but its seems to be the only way it will start. The last couple mornings it has failed to start, and then if I try again with my foot on the clutch, bam away she goes.

Are you sure it's not just coincidental?

The bit about having it in gear is strange! Are you sure it won't start in Neutral with your foot on the clutch? Hard to imagine how the disconnected gearbox has any effect.
If you leave the car idling in Neutral, and press the clutch in, do the revs change by 100RPM or more or do ou hear clanking noises?
Cheers,
Alf

Problem solved - I had a new immobiliser and alarm fitted to the car last week (the old one broke) which cuts the fuel up until 30 seconds after the car has been unlocked - hence the reason it has been taking a long time to start. The clutch thing was purely coincidental
I am going to have to take it back to the auto electrician and get the fuel cut off part of the immobiliser removed.
