cold side CAI for an NA

sooo...
why don't many people have a shortened cold side cold air intake...?
I've seen one car with the intake on the cold side that sits under the wheel arch of the driver's side wheel. No air flow meter so i assume that it was running a after market ecu.
benefits i see would be completely sucking in only cold air and faster throttle response. less piping too.
has anyone fitted a CSCAI on an NA with the stock AFM???
I can see it being done if i fit my mushroom filter back on the afm.
what you guys think?

you pretty much answered it yourself. It requires extending the AFM loom, which not many are proficient or brave enough to try.
The other thing to consider is that the duct between AFM and throttle body isn't very restrictive (I know because I've actually checked, not many people bother to do that obvious step).

ooooh yeh those engineeers.. strange bunch aren't they... i' might investigate a little further but most likely will go for the hole int he firewall and dunny pipe

Engineers are also those nice people who have to ensure the car is suitably quiet and fuel efficient...

more to the point, they're the guys who ensure the car is made as cheaply as possible, from the most commonly available parts...

Was thinking of going the same way on My clubman
now I have an after market computer i dont need the MAF
Even made a new headlight cover with air intake for the right hand side
But now I'm going turbo will have to make a left hand cover as well
Any one want a right hand light cover with vent?
