Neat and simple Bevan, I would not mind that option myself instead of the hot side CAI.

Yeah, it sure was. Wasn't really a hassle if you have the right tools (thanks to BigDog's shed. It's just a 70mm (or 65mm) PVC elbow with a 18mm hole drilled into the outside of the elbow. This is for the temp/pressure sensor. The temp sensor just pops out of the standard airbox with the rubber grommet and after cutting one or two cable ties, it will reach all the way across. Pop in into the 18mm hole in the elbow.

The return line to the head is a little more complex. When you take the hose off the stock intake, there is a little spout on there. You need to somehow put a similar spout onto the PVC elbow. I didn't have this problem as I already had an aftermarket system which had this spout and a rubber grommet. Another 18mm hole was drilled and I just popped it into that. You'll also need black tubing similar to the stock intake, just a little longer.

Disconnect the battery.
The next thing was the air flow metre wiring. There's only three wires there so cut them all at a point where you can easily work on both sides of the wire. Measure out three lengths of electrical wire and trim the plastic sheath to expose the wire on everything. Crimp on some female and male tab connectors on opposing sides and connect them together. Seperate each wire and isolate them with electrical tape.

Connect everything like the picture and you're done! By the way, the filter in the picture is the simota one from Mania.

The sound was unreal. Louder than any hot side intake can give you. As for performance, the car has never revved out as quickly and easily as what it does now. I just found that it got to redline before I knew it. There maybe a little less low down torque but I think there's a little bit more power. Next i'm going to try it with a 90mm elbow as soon as I buy two reducers. The only downside is that it does chew a bit more fuel so i've gone back to the hotside for now for daily driving. Can't wait to go back to it for a track day or club run though!

my guess would be that you become more of a lead foot just to hear the louder sound of the CAI, especially if its a crowl style one.

got it in one astroboy.....my fuel cunsumption went through the roof after getting a CAI

Yeah, probably just putting the foot down more but I did have a growling one before that, just on the hot side. Wouldn't the slight increase in power (pants, not dyno), also require a little bit more fuel?
