Hopefully someone gets off their ass and actually does it, :D

1: buy an sr20 eng&box or a silvia/180 halfcut

2:go here and buy the mounting gear and sump <:http://www.speedworks.com.au/products/MX5/mx5sr20main.html>

3:get an engine crane and get to work! 8)

If you could get it done for $8000, I would do it tomorrow...

A closer estimate would be about $12000 I would think - if you did most of the work yourself you might cut it down to about $9000...

One things for sure, it would be a great engine for an mx5! (imo) :D

The stat's certainly add up for the SR ...

- 150rwkW with just a turbo back exhaust ... 8)

- 200rwkW is quite easily obtained with the stock turbo and just bolt on mod's.

- 220rwkW (on stock internals) is just a pair of cams and a retune away ...

But then my engine died ... head rebuilt, new valves, new valve guides and then a whole new short block shipped out from Japan, all before it was two years old.

With Nissans, it's always the little anonymous widgets that let you down ... with my S15, it was every damn widget!!

If you really want (need?) turbo power, just sell your current MX5 and get an SE (not an SP), it will work out cheaper, more reliable and a better overall package EVERY single time.

For $2k, you have the complete fitting kit which sits the engine in the engine bay.

$2.5k you have a halfcut.

So for $5k, you have the engine/box IN the MX-5. Then get the factory ECU running, tailshaft, cooler piping, coolant routing, little niggly bits. So $12k is bit rich, $9k should do it with easy, but $7500ish fitting if you can do some little bits yourself is around the money I reckon.

Don't forget, then you need a diff that will hold it, and brakes to stop it. Then possible engineering to insure it.

I got quoted $12000 drive in drive out. As pointed out, it's about $5000 for the parts. Buggered if I can work out where the other $7000 comes from.
