Does anyone know anything about the "thicker" power steering fluid Mazda allegedly used in the MPS6 to improve the steering feel?

I'm currently using the Redline Synthetic PS fluid. It cost a little extra but steering seems smoother and a little lighter. Also haven't had any problems with boiling the fluid despite a few good attempts on skidpans/motorkhanas which have seen some other cars sidelined...

Cheers,

Sorry to resurect the thread, I can vouch for the redline PS fluid, it does feel a little bit better with new fluids. Its odd that the users manual does not mention what fluid to use and you never need to change it?!?!

(My car has done 140k km)

Im not sure if colour is a judgment of when you should replace fluids, but basically what I pulled out of the res was almost black, it was slighly thick even though the fluid was warm.

I put the same volume of new liquid back into the res...

I know im using a dilution process overall it should hold 800 ml but the res only holds 300 ml, but I still felt a slight difference.

Good call on resurrecting this one. :D :D My manual specifies ATF Dexron-II or M-III.

I'd say my car still has the original fluid after 12 years and 160kkm.

Is there a way of flushing the system before refilling?
