magnetic gets me the tap noise until i added lifter free additive which quietened it down straight away. now i use nulon full synth and theres no noise at all. the only tap noise i get is from the injectors, damn the mx5 injectors are loud.

Diagnosis............... Bent Rod........

What responsibility does the tuner have for this?

I’m not a happy camper.

Thats a bummer
When my car goes to the shop, i normally sign a form, agreeing to work to be done, and it includes a waiver for stuff like above.
Did you sign in/out your car?
I suspect you wont have any recourse with the tuner, unless he does you a good deal to help rebuild.

No I said I wanted 160rwkw 12psi he set it at 15 and 173rwkw and killed it.
I asked if he would help with the cost of the rebuild and he said no but will retune after it gets rebuilt (Hooray)

Stock rods? Its not as simple as typing 12psi and 160rwkw into the ecu and getting it back, often the boost log shows a spike to 15psi and taper down to 12 psi. Did you specify 12psi at full power or not. Its really not as easy as saying he did 15psi now its dead.

I know Dann it's nobody's fault except my own. I'm a dick, it's not the end of the world. I have bought a spare motor to rebuild anyway. Now I can rebuild the original moter which is better.
Anyone want to buy a VVT engine with only 87000km.

I thought I would be the exception to the rule. Only being a street dríven car. Turns out, not so much.
What shitted me was I wasn't even driving it when it went. So no fun at all.

If it takes X pressure to snap a twig, it doesnt matter if you apply that pressure one or repeatedly for 5 laps straight the twig will snap.
