I rang and spoke to Wendy.
She asked for my email address and that was the reply I got.
I called back and asked because there website said otherwise.
She informed me I was incorrect haha..

I have just put a new set of tighe cams in my car, the billeted tighe,s that were in my car had some wear.

On standard cams I am only able to run 8 psi and around 132 kw atw, on the billeted cams I was able to run 12 psi and 168 kw atw. Eventually I will get round to putting up the old cams for sale.

Anyone interested I can email pictures, specs.

Stock cams didn,t have lift, duration to do so. Something about detonation I suspect.

Somebody isnt being truthful to you.

Bigger cams result in LOWER boost pressure ratios at the same compressor flow levels.

Did the tuner sell you the cams?

No the tuner didn't sell me the cams it may be that the car was running a lower brand octane fuel on the day, which I had forgot about

Boost pressure is only a measure of reestriction.

So going to bigger cams allows you to make the same power with less boost. Obviously more power with cams is intuitive, but on a turbo car what you're doing is reducing restriction, which means lower boost pressure at the same flow (remember flow = power) or alternatively, more power (flow) at the same pressure.
Many are running 15-20 psi on a stock engine, bottom end, compression, cams and all. Some are running GT2554s with the wastegate wired CLOSED just to see what can be done on the stock bottom end, one bloke has been running this for like 6 months.

How much boost is he running? All of it! :D

According to dean tighe and Gary Stewart my new cams will allow me to run more boost.

Previously timing was set up for a n/a car. It has now been set up for turbo. I am told the idle will be better which is readily noticeable already.

Tuning next week.........love your thread nitro on your car.

Your cam timing helping you run more boost refers mostly to overlap. They may be the same total duration, but the cams overlap is likely different (most likely greater, reducing dynamic compression). If you imagine adjustable cam gears, this is like rotating the intake cam anticlockwise, and the exhaust cam clockwise. The cam lobes havent changed, so lift and duration havent changed one bit, but you've moved the cams 'away' from each other, so overlap is reduced.

A regrind will get you bigger cams than tomei procams.

The cost is for both cam shafts.
Intake and Exhaust.
