Thanks JBT, that is the nearest diagram I have seen, but mine does not have flash to pass? At least it never has, unless it has always been broken? There is one wire I can't account for, the green one. But I didn't think any of the early ones had this function?

Beats me Tim. The other diagrams (I gave you a link in an earlier post) are for the US market NA6. I didn't think any NA6s had flash to pass either.

Yea I have never heard of it before on the early ones. None of the other diagrams are even close though so obviously the US ones are quite different. I Still can't figure out what the green wire is for, if I put a +ve feed into it the lights come up, so I don't know if has a purpose or it just remains dormant. I guess I will find out if the relay is the problem when I get another one anyways. Because of the time of year I wouldn't expect to get one any time soon, I just hope there are some 2nd hand ones around because a wrecker I spoke to today who just got a 90 model in had a different part number on it, could be a eunos. Anyhow I'll see how I go.

Thanks for our help

I was going to suggest to try putting 12 volts on that green wire to see what happened but was uncertain of possible additional damage. It may be dormant but ready for the "flash to pass" function.

Might be worth trying the flash function on the light switch to see what happens or at least use your ohm meter to see if there is continuity from the green wire to the high beam power wire.

I still can't understand how this was caused by "fooling around with the plugs under the steering column". :? Did you detect something short out while you were doing this?

Yea I did test it but its not consistant with the high beam or even the low beam. If I put a current into it the lights go up, so it may have been put there for something to do with a flash to pass that had not yet been put in that model.

I cant find a wiring diagram to tell me what it is so thats all I can assume at this point. I have mania looking for another relay for me so hopefully late next week I can change it and see if that is all of my problem.

When the problem occured I had been testing for wires to try and hook up a flash to pass function, but the lgihts were still functioning fine untill I disconnected the plug and they popped up and didnt go down when I plugged it back in. I think by breaking the signal to the retractor switch the relay switches to up and possibly when I plugged it back in it got some sort of a surge which broke the relay.

Anyhow I have learnt a little about my car on the way :D and hopefully that will be the only problem

Look forward to hearing about the solution/result. Too many beers right now. :?
