just installed my oil cooler today. i didnt lose any pressure, only gained, @ 98 degrees @ oil filter, its 4bar @ 3000rpm, and then rises to a max of 5 bar @ 7000rpm.

*sandwich plate = MOCAL TD610 with thermostat
*Lines = aeropro rubber lines, aprox 1 meter in length for the entire system
*cooler = oxford 13 row cooler, 5cm thick
*there is 2 90 degree bend in the system

Cheers for that, couldnt think of a good place for the RX7 cooler so i'm on the hunt for another high flowing one. That oxford one might be the go..

Whats teh internal diameter of your lines?

I was also thinking of putting a T-piece in the line if the new cooler doenst improve things, that way some fo the oil will be cooled and the rest can continue through and maintain pressure - bettter than nothing..

dave,
have you the same sandwich plate as I?

comparing the mocal to the HKS i have for sale, the HKS is like 50 thicker and the area for the oil inside is just massive compared to the mocal.

what pressures are you getting CT?

Changed the oil cooler to one similar to the kind you see silvias running and that didnt help - maybe a little bit but not much

Think i might just leave it and sort it out on the next engine i build (wont be for a while but i'll probably go to a 1.8)

hey,
Sheck have you thought about moving your radiator back further closer too the engine. This will give you some room to fit the rx7 Oil cooler behind the front mount but infront of the radiator. Some clever ducting using Good plastic will ensure everything gets good air.

Nah no point, i've got a descent cooler on ther now. Most i'll do is install a thermostat - this will hopefully raise the pressure a bit.
Just gotta find one.. any ideas?

Used to see around 30 at idle and 65-70psi at full noise on the race motor which is fairly close to 5 bar.
