THE REAL BORIS wrote:There is plenty of evidence that the bypass valve and the throttle body elbow are both suspect on the SE. That is not to say that they are all NBG, just that SOME of them have proven to be. However, I am changing both; the GFB unit has already proven its worth to me and the FM inlet is on its way. The SE's strength is amply illustrated with the latest FM offering.

Yepp, I'll probably do the same when the warranty runs out (can't afford the risk until then). In the meantime, if a replacement is required in the next 100,000km, I guess Mazda'll just have to foot the bill.

To answer the questions of what boost this car was running, I received the following from Stephanie today:

When I saw it balloon, it was the last thing I expected to see, and just started laughing. I knew I had to take a photo. The photo was not even taken all full boost either.

The picture was taken while the car was on the Dyno. As I was not driving the car, I cannot tell you exactly what the psi was at the time. The car is capable of 10 psi and 207 rwhp, so I would guess that the photo is around 8 to 9 psi.

So while the car has obviously had some mods done, at the time the photo was taken, it was likely running near the standard quoted maximum boost of 8.5 psi.

Cheers,
Alf

yes, it probably was............but obviously for them to KNOW it could go 10 psi/207kw, it had been run AT that boost.............for how long???........how many times has it been pushed to the limit @ 10 psi on that obviously original intake pipe????..................that was my original ask............i'd imagine Mazda tested those intakes to death before they were approved for the production model...............it's all subjective when it comes down to it IMHO 8)
