Thought I'd resurrect an old thread rather start a new one.....
I'm starting to play with how I'm going to install my oil filter relocation kit and was after a bit of advice.
The kit I got is basically the same as the Works Engineering one so has the ability to mount the filter base in virtually any orientation depending on how you fabricate a bracket to suit.
Now looking around it seems there are a number of different ways to orientate this filter base used by other manufacturers. They can have the filter top facing up, down or sideways.
Is there any particular advantage or disadvantage of any of these orientations?
With the SE engine bay being so crowded it would be easiest for me to mount the base with the filter laying on it's side (like it is on the OEM engine fitting), is this going to cause me any grief?

Re: Oil Filter Relocation Kit
If you can, it's nice to mount the bracket so that the oil filter faces down - it makes oil changes easier since it avoid oil spilling everywhere if you mount it the other way (like I did), in which case you need to put lots of rags around the filter to catch the spillage:
As you say though, there's not much space in an SE and it's available space that will dictate where you mount it - I have an oil cooler too which also dictated where I could mount the oil filter relocation kit.
This in MINX's installation - very practical:
