When I was taking to Gary Stewart about my NA engine build he did mention that you can convert your hydraulics to solids and just get shims for them, so would be a cheap way to do a shim under bucket setup. I think he said you just take the HLA apart and remove all the stuffs inside or chock it up? I forget.
All his personal engine builds use hydraulics or hydraulics converted to solids.
Also you can get Toda products through Jesse Streeter because he orders them direct from the factory.

I think deckers does the same thing. It all depends on what you're doing. If it's an 8000+rpm screamer then weight becomes a factor: 37g for MMD vs 50g+ for converted HLAs

Awesome!
I think it would be a decent option, considering it's what Gary Stewart uses in his crazy NA builds. Obviously the increase weight over other solids hasn't concerned him. But you raise a good point project.r , it's quite a big weight difference.

One big thing I noticed about converting HLA to solids. Is that back 5+ years ago, solid buckets cost like $500+, also it was much cheaper to convert the HLAs back then. Nowadays with solid buckets being so cheap, those become a better option.
