Why not find someone local with a known good set of leads and give them a try? I'm sure someone would be willing to help.

well popped upto mania this afternoon and described the symptoms. did get into the speculated fuel issue or what have you.

first guess was hopefully leads and plugs possibly coil packs unfortunately they were waiting on their delivery of leads etc to come in tomorrow. but i picked up the plugs there and headed off down to repco. ( wouldve waited for mania to get the parts in but its my only transport and its been torture driving it the way its been )
anyway nearest repco that had leads in was north parra so went down there. stuck the leads on in the carpark and..... from the moment it turned over its behaving like its old self again

would like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to the guys at mania for letting me pick their brains. i promise ill buy something really expensive next time im out there.

WIN!

It's often easy to blame dodgy fuel. My mate had a similar experience a couple years ago in his R32. Problem started as soon as he left the servo so he naturally suspected the fuel. Turns out it was a busted coil on plug. The fuel was fine.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the Repco plug leads ? :D

lol tbh i feel a little bit sheepish now for getting all in a fuss about the fuel... and im still really suss about the timing of it all as it was quite literally the moment i drove out from the garage that it all started to happen but oh well i guess its running ok now so must have been the leads and nothing to do with the fuel

Water under the bridge and all that ... but I only paid $82.83 for my set of genuine NA6 leads from a Mazda dealer. OK, it was almost three years ago but I doubt the prices have changed that much since then. I did have to wait a few days for them to come in though. Ah well, at least it's fixed! :D

Haven't changed much at all. I paid $87 at local mazda dealer last year for NB8A leads.

I have no idea how good some of these are but the at the door costs in Qld for the most expensive is well less than $100.00.

Crikey for $156 you'd want to be getting something like Magnecor leads, not that you need them. True what some say about Repco, but at least it's fixed the problem.

thats it. i couldve paid less or gotten better leads if id waited the day for mania to get stock in but as its my daily driver and it was absolutely torture to listen to the thing struggling ( and not knowing for sure what was wrong and if i was causing more damage to the car ) i think at the time i probably wouldve happily thrown twice the amount at the problem if itd guaranteed a solution
