Go the JE-ZE it's 3lt and DOHC 198 hp (151 kW)/200 ft·lbf (272 N·m)

.. or go povo pack and get the SOHC like in our MPV.

I'm sure both would make a decent bit more power than factory with a better intake and exhaust system.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Yeah i think your right, it looks very tall, and thats the same problem the guy who did it in the US encountered. can be done but needs some fabrication

I'll go measure it for future reference,

There is 1 engine i can think of thats half the height, half the width, half the weight and more powerfull than the KL-ZE

The only way a KL-ZE would be worth doing over any other options is by sticking the 2.3L Miller Engines Supercharger in between the V. (Have 1 of those too)

240Kw of brute power

The exact Plan i had for the Tx5 until i decided 240kw FWD would be the worst handling car ever and not much fun either

But a 240kw Supercharged KL-ZE V6 NA Mx5 :) with Gilmer pully Drive and Bonnet Scoop, would be a pleasant way to get around .

I'll bite - That equates to 337.5mm wide and 320mm high. Also it needs to be 88kg with all manifolds and accessories.

No Manifolds, no accesories, Just smallest possible working engine

And making small manifolds is quite easy to do and gives more power too

Without manifolds and accessories, the ZE weighs 126kg, so your motor needs to weigh 63kg or less and fit in a 400mm cube...

Thats Funny  coz thats exactly what the engine will do Fit in a 400mm Cube :) Easily!

Here's a Quick Lesson in :) Rotary Engines 101 :)

Pics of my first cars 13B PP (Peripheral Port) 13 years ago(still have it)

as you can see about 330mm wide and 330mm tall, and i can lift it as is,
so somewhere around 70kg,

and the only big extras this engine had was a webber on its side, taking up little room, two atached throtlebodies would be even more compact

Power, Let me see a 13B PP is capable of up to 350Hp, this one with webber had a poor dissapointing 260hp

13B Renesis is the same size, not including the inlet manifold, which can be ditched if you want to get creative.

Just for fun I put the Supercharger that can fit snugly in the V of the Kl engine, for size comparisons

I'm starting to get a bit freaked out here \"Rotary\". Were we separated at birth? I also had a 5-speed manual KL powered TX-5 Ghia and have an affection for supercharged rotaries!

The KL-ZE is a great engine...a mate of mine put one in his Baja Bug http://www.offroadvw.net/bajawes.

Iv'e even designed a few mufflers and was seriously consideriing making my own, then you post pics of the ones you made
and by the engine mount pics i can see you have the same "i'll make it work" attitude and also don't know what "can't be done" means

Mazda nuts :D ,

 you hav'nt owned any rx3's 808's or Capellas have you?

No...my father...well I think he's my father never let me   . That's why I ended up with the 626 instead of an RX3 coupe....so I got myself a rotor for it!

No I've never owned anything pre 1982...I still have a series 2 RX-7 that I've been restoring for the past 4 years. Will finish it one day

Nice!! always wanted one of those but they seem to go up in price, and the Mx5 got so cheap,
so i thought i'd be different and put a renesis in the mx5, but not so different anymore am i

like me you got a 100 projects too  , last year i had at the same time 2 Telstars, 2 Rx808's, 1 Eunos 800M, 1 RGV250 and 1 ZZR250, and got rid off all but the 808 coupe and RGV to make room for the Mx5

Now i cant wait to buy another Mx5 :) (NA this time)

Sorry what was the topic again :)

KL-ZE 8) , yeah loved the KL i think its the sweetest piston engine.

Mazda didn't seem to think so when they were building PP engines.

With the shortest runners, the R26B was tuned for 8.5k.

You could try wrapping the inlet around the engine like the do on the Renesis, but on the inlet side of a rotor, every bend is throwing away horsepower....

The big problem rotors have from a packaging point of view is the fact that they aren't crossflow. They always take up a heap of space on the right hand side of the motor and waste a bunch of space on the left.

Can you think of any factory rotary powered car which you can't fit an LS1 into without cutting metal?

R100, RX-2/Capella, RX-3.....Ben, I understand what you're saying when considering turbo rotaries.

OK - 13B powered?

Are the engine bays that much smaller than rx7s?
