Ah nuts! That sucks... :frown: It only gets worse once it has started too.

Not really a big issue - I bought it 2nd hand from Sheck who said he was already experiencing some slippage up around 12 psi. I was aiming to limit at 8-9psi which is generally what I get around town. However, on the highway and under load, I do get as high as 10 (which I already accounted for in the tuning map) so it tends to slip a bit under the combination of boost and gearing load. Having the torsen possibly has an influence too as I didn't notice it with the 1.6 mazdaspeed......

I figure get a new one fitted and relax

I was thinking more about the story of you fitting it and the swearing that ensued...

Bit of a shame all you went through all that torture and then have to replace it. All a learning experience though, I suppose.

ASE05 $385 for removal machine refit is excellent- that works out to about 4 hours work. Unless you have the right equipment ,the time , the knowledge and the inclination I would not contemplate it. He will probably give you a warranty for his work as well. The actual price of the clutch is likely to be the going rate unless you know someone who get it trade price- some of the fitters are offering very competitive prices on clutches.I found my local fitter supplied a clutch plate and thrust cheaper than I could buy it \"retail\"

$385 is only for the removal and refit and machining of flywheel. Still waiting on price for clutch  I hope this is OK as the car is already at the shop and clutch removed, just waiting on Jim Berrys price for the replacement clutch. I hope I haven't been jammed in the bum here $$$ wise??

ASE, what did Jim recommend as a replacement clutch for your requirements?

Please let me know what price he comes back with, as i'll more than likely be in the market for a similar clutch very shortly.

ASE05 yes I understood that it was for labour and machining - it is well priced. As noted the hardware pricing can easily be checked and the fitters often are competitive.

$976 for the clutch  But a few bits weren't all that good anymore which jumped the price up. I'm not 100% on specs or what needed replacing etc but apparently the stocko had 1300 or 1600 pounds clamp and the new one is 2300 or 2600 clamp. I'll know more when I see the final invoice.

From a few threads I've read after doing a google search regarding Jim Berrys clutches, it's sounds like he knows what he's up to. More expensive definately but well worth it from what I've read(and we all know you can trust what you read on the net now don't we.....)

Not so Wahooo now

Just went up the road to Bribie Island to sort some stuff out and on the way up she started to get a lil' harder to get into gear.....hmmmm, somethings not right me thinks :?

By the time we get to Bribie, I can hardly change gears at all w/out matching revs to get it into gear. Yep, something really aint right here. The last roundabout before the BP servo we had to pull into I couldn't get her to stop moving even with the clutch all the way in

In the end, she's lobbed onto a tow truck for the journey back to Margate($120 later) :x

Now with the clutch out, she squeels like a cut pig and goes almost quiet with the clutch all the way in, not really happy.

This is the 1st time ASE05 has been near a mechanic/service mob or anyone since we bought her. She never saw a Mazda dealer after the 1000km check up \"service\" and I've been lookin' after her ever since. I now remember why I don't get anyone else to play with my cars :? Better yet, whilst there, they managed to scrape something along the rubber thingy at the top of the drivers door(I needed to replace it anyhow after hitting it with a HP washer a while back), scrape the bottom of the chin spoiler(not too bad as you can't see it but still, it wasn't there b4) and also take a chunk of paint outta the leading edge of the drivers side door(touch up paint'll fix it w/out dramas but still, it wasn't there b4). I wasn't gonna say anything to 'em but I think I'll mention this when I get down to 'em with ASE05 on the back of a tow truck again @ 0700 Tuesday mornin'

It was totally farked, the clutch plate was down to the rivets and you could boot it and watch the revs rise but speed stay the same.

38XXXkms showing with a car that had about 45% more power than stock since about 8000km wasn't too bad I reckon.
