Lots of play in gear stick

Postby PT » Sat May 30, 2009 7:32 am

Thanks for all the help! I'll be pulling it apart this weekend.

So this nylon bush... to get to that you pull the whole gearstick out?

I dare say the boots will be torn anyway - but I'll check them. I had to replace those boots on my NA too.

Thanks
Paul

Yeah it was pretty easy to take it out. Just pull out the centre console, that's 5 screws from memory. One of them is under the power window switch which is the hard to find one. So you have to pry out that switch first, then you pull the console over the fuel/boot release and it's out of the way. Then it's a couple bolts for the shift boots and you can pull out the lever. I got my Nylon cup from Mx5 mania, they brought it to a trackday for me but a lot of guys have been trying brass ones.
