About to buy some valve stem seals- has anyone used:

I've read in a few places the Supertech ones are too big and leak badly, but unsure about other brand.
thoughts?

Re: bp valve stem seals
I heard similar issues, I bought mine from Supermiata.com - who sourced theirs as a result of the Supertech issues.
These days I don't see any issues with buying from the US, it's usually cheaper despite shipping and FedEx is faster from the otherside of the world than Australia Post is from 3 suburbs away (exaggeration, but you get my point). The only time I have any pause is when I need to consider duties. If the price difference is negligible then I'll support the locals though.

I just put a new turbo engine together, put in all genuine mazda gaskets n seals. Done a dyno and a track day with no sign of oil from valve stem seals.

OEM have the best tolerances but they're not cheap. I went with Supermiata valve stem seals after reading about the problems with the Supertechs, they seem to be working so far.

the cost seem irrelevant when you then are faced with either pulling the head & have t0 replace the headgasket or doing it without removing the head is a serious pain in the butt. Go with OEM. Ive done the same before too. when it comes to the seal kit. stick with OEM.

Re: bp valve stem seals
Thanks for your inputs.
I'm still not sure - mx5mania emailed me back and said the seals are there own brand and is what they use on their own performance engines. I'm very tempted to get the $40 set.
Mx5mania do sell genuine other BP seals, I'm buying the rear seal from them also.
For genuine https://www.amayama.com/ru/part/mazda/kl0210155
Comes to about $100 plus post, but 2 months of postage .
I think it was only the supertechs they were crap right?

Mania sell a lot of Supermiata stuff. I'd take a guess that the seals they sell are sourced from Supermiata.
The description on both websites are similar

Re: bp valve stem seals
Valve stem seals aren't the hardest part to replace if they fail, engine stays in, but it takes a while to perform so if you're getting a shop to do it labour will be the main cost. And, if they fail you won't destroy anything. So all up you can take a chance on the cheaper option.
I'm thinking the same as Roadrunner, Mania wouldn't have made their own they are likely the Supermiata ones due to their relationship. Like I said earlier, I have the Supermiata ones (still in a box), and so Mania's would be a decent option to get.
