NA-NB propshaft compatibility

Postby Nick3 » Mon Mar 23, 2015 4:08 pm

Greetings.
It appears that my NA8 Clubman propshaft (driveshaft) UJ has died, resulting in loud clangs on takeoff, quiet metallic chirping occasionally, and gearstick noise and vibration when cruising. Does that sound familiar ?
My research, and comments from online members, has revealed that the whole shaft requires replacement.
Obviously, I would prefer as low-mileage a replacement as possible, so can anyone confirm that NA8 and NB propshafts are interchangeable ?
Does anyone know where can I find a replacement shaft ?
Thank You in advance.
Nick

NA8 and NB shafts can be swapped.
I'm 95% sure there was no difference between 5 or 6 speed ones, but not 100%

NA6 used a different shaft (to cater for the smaller diff) so it won't be any use to you.

The auto driveshaft has a different yoke at the box end so check its from a manual car.
