Help needed with engine out to fix oil leak - Melbourne

oh, so it's a modified factory sump?
in that case it's most likely gaskets then, either the wrong ones, or badly fitted.

From the original post I assumed it was a brand new custom sump (hence my comment that it may not be machined right)

if it's a factory one that didn't leak beforehand there's no reason for it to leak now. (apart from the above mentioned options)

There is about 6 different moon seals accross the B6 and BP range from 90-03. And when you order them, you dont always get the right one.

Especially if mine's an '04. I'm hoping Daniel from Deckspeed will be able to provide further help by giving me the part numbers for an '04 SE.

Daniel from Deckspeed knows the correct gaskets and how to do the job correctly. Other people who say they are expert may indeed be experts and know as much as Daniel. One thing for sure though is that the guy who did my sump (twice) did it in a completely different way.

My racecar leamed from that seal, in behimd the flywheel.
I took the gearbox out, removed the clutch and flywheel, and siliconed that mofo with mazda grey sealent. Worked a treat. Think theres a pic of it in my thread.

Go and get your parts guy to plug your VIN into Mazda parts and get the right bit, 2 minutes
