What does the spigot on this boost sensor attach to?

It can go to any vac source from the intake post throttle body.

Not sure if it's the same as the SE's DENSO "Sensor Boost" module, but if it is, see about half way down of my first post: http://www.mazda-speed.com/forum2/index.php/topic,24923.0.html

I've done a bit of a search but this is the only thing that seems to come up specifically for this sensor and its fitting.

I've just noticed that my sensor (Hitachi boost sensor on NB8B on drivers inside guard) is not plumbed into anything and appears to be reading atmospheric pressure. I thought it might be an optional thing, pulled the plug and of course it threw a code. From the little I can find, its the "EGR boost sensor" but I can't find anything else on it. I don't have a vacuum diagram so I'm struggling with its function on my car.

Do I need to do anything or just leave it as is?

Cheers,

From the factory on an NB it has an inch of vacuum hose connected to nothing.
Bit odd but assume it just measures atmospheric pressure.
On the SE it's connected to a solenoid that switches between atmospheric and the intake manifold, but it's a different sensor (part no.) on the SE to the standard nb.

I asked a guy that is a part-time tuner the other day about this as my car has 2 MAP sensors installed and wired with one having no line. Apparently it's common to have a MAP sensor on the ECU itself so that it can compensate for barometric pressure changes (altitude changes) . It's also used for triggering the EGR so it's probably dual purpose in the NB8B+.

Does anyone have a pic of where this is located? I've never noticed it on my car. Do SP's have them?

It's on the drivers side on a brass coloured mount behind the coolant reservoir near the strut brace mount.
I know the SEs one has a silver and gold sticker and the standard nb looks the same but has a black sticker label. Iv never looked on an SP, whenever I look under their bonnets iv always been preoccupied with trying to work out how to unbolt that carbon air intake without the owner noticing :P
