Car jerk forward and backward

Hi guys

I was stuck in a jam this evening. Was on first gear and half clutch and sudden the car jerk forward and backward. I though that i must have used the wrong gear so i shift to gear 2 still the same,

Immediately stop and road shoulder and shift to neutral .Even in neutral the car still jerk and can see the engine violently. But once and out the restart the engine no more issue already

Any pro advise what is happening?
My pal say it might be something to do with the fuel.
No problem on high rpm.

Engine broken u mean? Serious?

might be just ignition or injector issue. Have u check for any error code?

I suggest you get a mechanic preferably familiar with the MX5 to test drive it for you or even someone you know who is fully familiar with the car. Maybe the car is cutting out. Bad fuel is a bit unlikely but who knows.
